Prof. Cao

Hongzhi Cao received both his B.S. (1997) and M.S. (2000) degrees in Chemistry from Zhengzhou University, Henan, China. After receiving his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry in 2004 from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) under the supervision of Professor Biao Yu, he joined Professor Xi Chen’s Lab at the University of California Davis as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Cao started his independent research at National Glycoengineering Research Center, Shandong University, in 2010, and was promoted to full professor in 2016. Dr. Cao’s main research interest has been focused on developing novel and efficient chemoenzymatic strategies for the synthesis of biologically important glycans.
